Felting with Ririn Yaxley
Join artist Ririn Yaxley for an introduction to felting!
Participants will learn how to make a colourful felt bangle out of merino wool to take home (and wear!). Ririn will demonstrate different beading and embellishment techniques and show examples of fibres (silk, alpaca, corriedale, ramie) that are used in her practice and in the current exhibition Merangkul.
This workshop is perfect for those wanting to try felting for the first time. All materials provided. Suitable for ages 13 and up.
About the Artist
Ririn Yaxley
Ririn Indah Puspita Yaxley discovered the magic of felting in 2016 when she and her daughter took their first scarf making class at Gallery 924 Corowa, NSW.
Since then Ririn has developed her practice by researching and learning different felting techniques. Growing up in Indonesia, Ririn learnt about the history of Indonesian traditional textile and found the discovery of felting in her new home was fascinating. The ability to manipulate the fibre into unusual shapes and textures has resulted in works of sculpture, wall art, functional art furniture and wearable art.
