Art Experiences

Cocktail Event

Elevate your evening with a bespoke cocktail event within our Atrium Gallery. Perfect for a pre-dinner mixer activity for conference programs, after-work business events, and starter activities for large family gatherings.

Availability: Monday – Friday, 5.30 – 7.00pm
Space: Atrium Gallery
Price: $600
Capacity: 100 people MAX
Duration: 1.5 hours
Inclusions: Beverage service, and bar set up, cocktail tables and seating, and Visitor Experience host.
Exclusions: Drinks packages and catering add ons are not included in the price and need to be added onto the booking. Custom catering can be arranged through Canvas Eatery.
Options: Private tour experience added to booking.

Art Making Party

Enjoy a relaxed session as our experienced art facilitators guide you through a fun art making activity. A great choice for end of year get-togethers, workplace team building or birthday events.

Availability: Thursday & Friday 6 .00pm – 7.30pm and Saturday 5.00pm – 6.30pm
Space: MAMA Studio
Price: Commercial – $950, Community - $850
Duration: 1.5 hours
Inclusions: Experienced art tutor, all artist-grade materials and equipment, climate-controlled studio, a visitor engagement facilitator, crockery, cutlery, glassware, water and facilitation of catering if applicable.
Exclusions: Catering add ons are not included in the price and can be added to the booking. Custom catering can be organised through Canvas Eatery.

Express Art Experiences

Designed as the perfect breakout activity for any conference or seminar, the Museum has a variety of options to enhance your event programming. Express Art Experiences are available for a variety of group sizes.

  • Guided tour: 45 minutes, $5 per head, minimum 10 people (or minimum charge $50 for smaller groups).
  • Still Life Drawing Session: 45 minutes, $10 per head, minimum 10 people (or minimum charge $100 for smaller groups).
  • Clay Play Session: 45 minutes, $15 per head, minimum 10 people (or minimum charge $150 for smaller groups).
  • Portraiture Session: 45 minutes. Participants pair up and learn to see and draw faces as an artist. A perfect activity for team building. $10 per head, minimum 10 people (or minimum charge $100 for smaller groups).
  • Meet the Curator, 45 minute talk with the curator, deep dive into the current collection show and Q&A session. $500, no minimum group size, maximum 20 people.

Private Art Class

Book a relaxed private workshop with a group of up to 5 people, and let our experienced art facilitators guide you through the foundations of your selected art medium.

Availability: Monday – Friday, 10.30am – 2.30pm, Saturday and Sunday, 11.00am – 3.00pm or 2.00pm – 6.00pm

Space Hire

Boardroom Meeting Hire

MAMA Boardroom is the Museum’s premium meeting space. Available for up to 12 guests, the room centres around a solid red gum table and features carefully selected artworks from the Museum's permanent collection.

Availability: Monday – Friday, 9.00am – 5.00pm

Price: Corporate – $190 to $290, Community – $140 to $240

Full day and Half day packages available
Inclusions: The package includes a projector and electronic presentation screen.
Exclusions: The package does not include tea and coffee facilities. Custom catering can be organised through Canvas Eatery or a lunch booking at Canvas and pre-order can be arranged if the session is over the lunch period.

Studio Hire

Situated on the ground floor of the original heritage building, MAMA has two working art studios for hire. Filled with light, architectural character and facing the Dean Street CBD, the studios can accommodate workshops, team meetings and team building art experiences.

Availability: Monday – Friday, 9.00am – 5.00pm

Price: Corporate –$150 to $250, Community – $110 to $180
Duration: Full and Half day options available
Inclusions: The package includes an interactive smart screen with presentation capabilites. Art facilitators can also be hired as part of our Art Making Party package to guide your group through a fun art making activity.

Lectures & Seminars

Access to gallery spaces and MAMA Atrium are limited to outside of opening hours and are therefore best suited for concentrated events such as cocktail functions, talks and panel discussions.

Photography Sessions

The Museum is for public enjoyment, we welcome the use of our space as a backdrop for your wedding, graduation or birthday photo shoots, however please be mindful of our public visitors and contact our friendly staff to let them know you’re coming.

Event hire is only available outside of Museum Opening Hours, with the exception of our Studio and Workshop spaces.

No, the Museum offers packaged art experiences and spaces to hire only.

The Museum's catering partner, Canvas Eatery, provide catering for all Museum events.

The Museum specialises in art experiences and corporate/community room hire, the availability for custom style events is limited.

Booking Information

Accessibility

MAMA is accessible to all. Interior ramps and lifts ensure level access to every space, with entry and exit from both Dean Street and QEII Square.

Staffing

An hourly rate of $62 is applied per staff member, for a minimum of two hours (1 hour prior and 1 hour following the conclusion of the event). All functions during closed hours require a minimum of one staff member to be present (the total number of staff members required is at the Museum’s discretion).

Terms and Conditions

All fees are payable in advance.

Final numbers, catering and extras need to be confirmed and full payment made 7 days prior to the event taking place.
