Tickets on sale for MAMA blockbuster
Tickets to MAMA's first blockbuster exhibition, Marilyn: Celebrating an American Icon, are now on sale (during 2015 - 2016)
The exhibition features original paintings, objects, prints and photographs by more than 50 leading 20th and 21st Century artists including Andy Warhol, Bert Stern and Cecil Beaton and will be shown exclusively at MAMA.
Marilyn: Celebrating an American Icon is a major achievement for the new contemporary art museum, which has received more than 30,000 visitors since opening its doors in October.
The exhibition has toured the US and Brazil ahead of its Albury season, which opens on 12 February. It comprises more than 100 works focusing on and celebrating the enduring fame and popular cultural phenomenon of the screen goddess whose life tragically ended at just 36.
MAMA Director Jacqui Hemsley said that negotiating the exhibition had been two years in the making.
"We are absolutely thrilled that MAMA's first major international exhibition will focus on such an icon of popular culture."
"To this day no-one has come close to Marilyn Monroe for sheer charisma, glamour, sex appeal and star power. We know the Australian public will fall in love with her all over again."
Ahead of the Marilyn exhibition, MAMA is presenting a sensational summer program of exhibitions.
Visitors to MAMA now can see Impressions of Paris from the National Gallery of Australia, which includes five bronze ballet dancers by Degas, and work by two of Australia's leading contemporary artists, eX de Medici and Richard Bell.
Marilyn: Celebrating an American Icon was organised by Sairally Fine Arts & Consulting, Hamburg, Germany and toured by International Art & Artists, Washington, DC.
