RAW24 was part of an annual open call for young people, showcasing the best original artworks being produced by young people of the Murray region. This year’s exhibition featured 12 artists, and highlighted the unique perspectives and experiences of our local young people.

Selected artists submitted their work independently with a range of mediums including painting, drawing, photography, digital media, sculpture and installation. The 2024 exhibition presented timely themes around self-identity, mental health and body positivity, while others drew inspiration from history and mythology.

An important aspect of the opportunity for participating young artists was a series of professional development tutorials by MAMA curatorial staff that covered aspects of concept development, artwork preparation, and exhibition installation as well as feedback for future projects.

Featuring artists: Alexander Leeworthy, Opal-Jade/Benny, Brigitte Ford, Ella Spokes, Emily Dove, Jack Walter, Jairus Smerdone, Logan Warnaar, Madeleine Steer, Opal Davidson, Sophie Swinton and Toby Robinson.

Applications for the RAW program are open all year round and successful applicants are reviewed and chosen in September each year.
