Join us for the opening of Bank Manager Hour, a new body of work by Courtney Young. The solo exhibition presents a series of paintings that draw upon and diverge from the landscape genre, to examine the artist’s own identity and privilege as a local farmer.
Young’s colourful, layered and textured paintings merge memories and stories of farms from her childhood as well as that of her own children.

About the artist
Courtney Young is an artist and agroecological farmer based in Rutherglen, Victoria. Through her place-based practice, Young is interested in challenging prevailing colonial approaches to understanding and perceiving the landscape, and examining her identity and privilege as a farmer in Australia. Her paintings often border abstraction and are grounded in a love of colour, texture and layers.
