Meet the Maker: Sam Horn

Sam lives and works in Albury as a carpenter by day and a spoon carver in his spare time. His interest in timber started long before becoming a carpenter, as he has always loved collecting and recycling timber. Sam maintains minimal waste in his practice by only using recycled timbers and salvaged wood.

Sam’s inspiration for each spoon is in the unique attributes of each timber offcut. He uses only an axe and two knives to hand craft each work, slowly shaping each piece of timber into something new.
