Meet the Maker: Menim Blades

Local Albury maker Jo Murphy handcrafts unique and individual knives in her workshop located in Albury, NSW.

The blades are made from high carbon stainless steel and the handles are made from a variety of Australian native timbers, mostly reclaimed along with resin incorporating fabric layers in a process called micarta. Some of the timber varieties include rare ancient Red Gum, Hairy Oak, Brown Mallee Burl and Fiddleback Ash.

Jo's extensive career working with wood, metal, science and art has enabled her to explore her creativity and combine these non-traditional elements with timber and steel to create exquisite and timeless pieces that are intended to last a lifetime and be passed down through generations.

Each piece is unique and embellished with inlaid detail in the handles of cheese & butter knives, salad servers and spatulas. Beautiful timber boards are also available in Jo's range which compliment each other and make the perfect gift for a special occasion.
