The travelling Art Cases are able to be shared in the community at schools, neighbourhood centres, libraries and aged care homes, and onsite at the Museum.

Art Cases provide a unique opportunity for interactive learning, discussion, and artmaking. Filled with diverse and interesting works of art that can be picked up and examined to incite conversation, storytelling and critical thinking.

MAMA will host the Blue ‘Earth’ and Yellow ‘Past, Present and Future’ Art Cases to create a hands-on learning experience with students of all ages. The program can be accessed as an incursion or excursion at the Museum from 21 October – 15 November 2024.

About the content

Earth
The Earth Art Case brings together artists who reflect on the importance of the natural world and our place within it. The Earth Art Case investigates terrestrial and aquatic environments, and the interconnectedness of life on earth.

Past Present and Future
The Past, Present and Future Art Case brings together works that reflect on or are invested with the passing of time. Exploring the past, present and future in insightful ways, the works in this case allow audiences to engage with specific moments in history and speculative futures. The Past, Present and Future Art Case investigates concepts of heritage, religion and ethics.

Both Art Cases speak to Visual Arts, Science, the Humanities and Social Sciences, and the cross-curriculum priority of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Cultures and the general capability of Ethical Understanding.

The National Gallery’s Art Cases are generously supported by the Neilson Foundation with grateful acknowledgement of founding patrons Elaine and Jim Wolfensohn.
