The Disappearing Farmer from portrait artist Rose Wilson payed homage to the working farmers of the Victorian farmers around her Trentham home.
Wilson depicted a generation of agricultural families that are disappearing as small farms are swallowed up by larger farms, the urban fringe creeps outwards, and rural young people migrate to regional and metropolitan areas.
In this series of oil paintings, Wilson captured the faces of farming couples, working farm dogs, and a way of life that is becoming increasingly rare.
