Teens Workshop: Watercolour with Pinky Wittingslow

Learn new and effective creative skills in this watercolour workshop for teens.

The teens will create their own watercolour ‘patchwork quilt’ style artwork with illustrator Pinky Wittingslow. The students can paint their favourite memories whilst learning useful watercolour techniques. 

Workshop outline
Warm up
Students will learn how to use watercolours and how to achieve different texture effects using brushes and other materials. 

Planning the artwork
The teens will be encouraged to recall their favourite memories and design personal symbols to plan their artwork. 

Making the artwork
Create the ‘patchwork quilt’ artwork using watercolour techniques and symbols from their favourite memories. 

Adding to the artwork
While the students' works are drying, Pinky will demonstrate how to enhance the work with dry mediums to add more texture, shading and highlights.

What they need to bring:
Covered-toe shoes
Water bottle
Aprons are available, but please wear clothes that can get messy. 

This workshop is designed for teens aged 10 - 18 years.

Meet the Artist: Pinky Wittingslow

Pinky is a local Multidisciplinary Artist and illustrator who lives in Wodonga. Pinky’s practice is informed by her love of nature and gardening. She is a fierce advocate for artmaking as an essential communication tool which transcends communication barriers. Pinky is an experienced tutor who loves to support people of all ages and abilities in finding their artistic voice and to help their creativity to bloom.
