Open Call Program 2021
The Open Call program presents the work of artists from the region (North East Victoria and parts of southern New South Wales), as well as artists from beyond the region whose work is locally significant.
Susan Moorhead Memorial Award
The Susan Moorhead Memorial Award is presented once every two years to an emerging artist from our local region, extending to parts of southern NSW and North East Victoria. The Award is offered in conjunction with the Open Call program.
The $2000 prize is awarded to an artist whose work has been selected as part of the Open Call program and honours Susan Moorhead’s life of commitment to the arts. During her short but distinguished professional life Susan was an art teacher, exhibiting artist, designer, sculptor and master crafts person.
Funds for the Susan Moorhead Memorial Award are held in trust by the MAMA Art Foundation.
Applications involve a short artist biography, an outline of your proposed project, and a selection of supporting material. On the application form, you will be asked whether you are eligible for the Susan Moorhead Memorial Prize as an emerging artist from the local region.
Applications are assessed by MAMA Curatorial and programming staff. The Susan Moorhead Memorial Award is assessed by a panel comprising the MAMA Curator, a representative of the MAMA Art Foundation and a relevant community representative.
Most exhibitions that are selected through the Open Call are held in the Brindley Family Galleries and Quest Albury and Quest on Townsend Galleries. Sometimes, due to the nature of the work, the curatorial team will choose a different space to present your work, however, its best to plan for the space indicated in the below map.
