National Photography Prize Junior 2024
National Photography Prize Junior 2024
National Photography Prize Junior 2024 was a pilot schools’ program that connected primary students with the medium of photography.
Year 6 students from NSW and VIC were invited to attend a full day excursion comprising a guided tour of the National Photography Prize and a hands-on studio photography activity. The students looked at the work of finalist artists Ali McCann, Ioulia Panoutsopoulos and Skye Wagner who each engaged in studio-based practices to construct imagery. In response, the students explored drawing, painting and collage to construct a setting for a personal object which they then photographed.
A public exhibition of the students’ photographs was on display in the Learning Lane for the remainder of the National Photography Prize (closing 1 September 2024).
The 2024 participating schools were Lavington Primary, Wodonga Public and Jindera Primary.
MAMA would like to thank Camera House Albury for their generous support of the program. MAMA acknowledges the MAMA Art Foundation for their continued championing of the National Photography Prize.
