Weaving with Marg Murray

Join artist Marg Murray (Maraura-Barkindji woman) for a four-week weaving short course where you will learn coil weaving techniques to create and complete your own raffia basket.

Each participant will receive a ‘starter pack’ containing a small woven coil base and a plastic needle to create a basket that is unique in colour, shape and size.

This course provides the opportunity for students to connect with Marg and receive hands-on guidance as you develop your weaving skills and build confidence in your ability over multiple sessions.

This course is suitable for individuals of all skill levels, beginners welcome.

All weaving materials are provided.

Marg Murray

Marg Murray is a weaver and proud Maraura – Barkindji woman. As an artist she deeply involved in community, sharing cultural knowledge, and building networks and services for future generations.

Weaving has become an integral part of her life and an artistic practice that sustains her relationship to culture and community. Her woven works have been exhibited extensively across this region and together with artist Valda Murray, she has facilitated weaving workshops to create connections between people, their history and culture.
