Celebrate the opening of love, an exhibition featuring key works by artist Michael Butler. This selection of Butler’s collages, drawings, prints, and assemblages, many produced in Albury in the 1990s, offers a deeply personal look into love’s complexities. Presented are moments of joy, romance and eroticism alongside themes of guilt and melancholy.
This exhibition includes newly donated pieces to MAMA’s collection, alongside works that provide valuable context to Butler’s practice.

John Kirkman
John Kirkman is a curator, gallery director and cultural producer. In 1987 he left Sydney to work with the Flying Fruit Fly Circus. He has since maintained strong connections to Albury, where in 1990 he met Michael Butler, his partner of 32 years.
