Get to know the winners of year’s National Photography Prize! Artists Tiyan Baker and Sara Oscar will return to the Museum to present floor talks that offer a deeper look at each of their works, and how they engage with the medium of photography.

Tiyan Baker is the recipient of the 2022 National Photography Prize for her series of autostereograms (also known as Magic Eye images) that feature lush landscape imagery from her mother’s ancestral lands in Bidayǔh, Sarawak (Malaysia). Sara Oscar’s photographic installation playfully integrates ideas of the artist’s own body and history into photographs from her family archive.

What to expect:
This will be a standing event held in the National Photography Prize exhibition space. Artists Tiyan Baker and Sara Oscar will each provide an introduction to their practice and talk about their works in the Prize. Visitors will have the opportunity and be encouraged to ask questions of the artists at the end of their talks. Museum ‘pause’ seats will be available for visitors to use.
