Zauner Construction has been further honoured at the NSW Regional Master Builder Awards held in Wagga on Friday night, being named Commercial Builder of the Year for its redevelopment of two heritage buildings into the Murray Art Museum (MAMA).

Zauner will now proceed to the NSW finals in Sydney and the Victorian State Excellence in Construction Awards.

Mayor Henk van de Ven, who attended the awards, congratulated Zauner and said Albury should be proud to have a world class building that was redeveloped by a Border construction company.

Zauner redeveloped the 1907 Town Hall and 1860 Burrows House (originally the Crowns Land Office) to become a cutting-edge art museum with 10 galleries.

Zauner Managing Director Garry Zauner was thrilled with the further recognition.

“This is an excellent acknowledgement of the skill, hard work and commitment of our Z team and also due recognition of the courage and commitment of our valued client AlburyCity Council in its continued commitment to undertake world class buildings in regional Australia,”

MAMA Director Jacqui Hemsley said Zauner Construction's award followed recognition for MAMA as one of Australia’s best new art museum/galleries.

MAMA was recently named overall National Winner at the Museums & Galleries National Awards (MAGNAs) at a ceremony in New Zealand.

Master Builders Association of Victoria CEO Radley de Silva said: “The achievements with this construction will ensure this museum continues to be a community hub for many years to come. The successful adaptation of heritage-listed buildings always presents a challenge.”
