Kate Rohde: Little Gems
When: Extended to October 2020
Where: Wonder Cupboards, MAMA
When natural history specimens, decorative art design and intense colour arrangements collide you will discover the magical world of Kate Rohde. Since completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honors) at the Victorian College of the Arts, 2001, Rohde has become widely known for her extremely detailed and colourful sculptural objects and immersive installation practice.
Working across multiple mediums, the over-arching theme throughout Rohde’s works is the human relationship to nature and animals. Rohde delves further into this theme and how it has featured predominately as motifs in historical art movements such as Rococo and Art Nouveau.
Rohde presents her works, Little Gems, in MAMA’s next Wonder Cupboard series. The installations will incorporate Rohde’s love of all things animal, mineral and vegetable, to be discovered throughout the art museum.
