Workshop: Copperplate Calligraphy with Maria Montes
For beginners and experienced letterers alike, this three-hour workshop will cover the foundations of Copperplate Calligraphy. With a focus on the lowercase alphabet, we’ll study its rhythm, contrast and letter spacing using walnut ink and a flexible pointed pen.
Calligraphy can be a meditative practice, a creative outlet, and a seriously impressive skill when it comes to writing placecards, greeting cards, chalkboards, certificates and more.
Once you have mastered the foundations of making strokes with an ink nib, the skill can be transferred to different families of script beyond the copperplate style.
This workshop includes:
- Three hours of supervised tuition
- Pointed flexible pen, ink and paper;
- Printed class notes and letterform guidelines;
- A new skill that you can put to immediate use in your everyday life!
