Art School - Term Two (9-12 years)
MAMA is thrilled to launch Kids Art School in Term Two 2021. Over 8 weeks each term, our new after school program will provide an extended weekly art making session in which primary aged children will have the opportunity to gradually build artistic skills.
In our new after school program, kids will move through activities that build their core skills, including drawing, painting, and sculpture. Kids are supported to move through the skills and activities at their own pace, with their own creative expression. Material exploration, colour theory, and composition will be explored across all mediums. Specialist workshops will be explored throughout the year including printmaking, ceramics, mixed media, and photography.
Each class is 2 hours long, allowing time for kids to spend time learning, experimenting, and being in their inner creative world. Classes are led by experienced tertiary art-trained educators. Students will have the opportunity to interact with visiting artists, current exhibitions and artworks in the museum’s permanent collection throughout the year.
All materials and a fruit snack are included.
BYO apron or old shirt for artmaking.
Activities will commence at 3.30pm, with drop off from 3.15pm. Class will conclude at 5.30pm, with pick up before 5.45pm.
In this first term, kids will be broken into ages 5-8, and 9-12 years. However, in subsequent terms as more classes are added, children will be divided further by age and ability to allow for the most targeted experience for all students. Siblings can be kept together upon request.
We understand that the timing of this program may not suit all families. Our goal is to add extra days next term, with a later start time to suit people in different locations.
Please get in touch if you are interested in Kids Art School, but would like to provide feedback about the format.
