MAMA is free but you'll need to book tickets to go inside on opening day, Friday 2 October, and Saturday 3 October.

Because of the expected demand, people are asked to book a one-hour timeslot between 1pm and 10pm on opening day and between 10am-4pm on Saturday 3 October.

More than 2000 people are expected to go through MAMA on opening day and volunteers will be out in force to show people around the art museum and answer questions.

Tickets are not required for the MAMA's Big Night Out free celebrations on Friday 2 October that will be held from 5pm in QEII Square and Dean Street, which will be closed between Kiewa and Olive from 10am to 10pm.

"We've been closed for two years and this is the first opportunity for the community to see what all the fuss is about. Come to MAMA."

Jacqui Hemsley, Director, Murray Art Museum Albury

Come to MAMA's Big Night Out to meet MAMA's Girl - a six-and-a-half metre tall artwork by Melbourne artists Airena (Felipe Reynolds and Ed Boyle) - and enjoy art installations, video projections, giant snails, circus, First Nations dancers, local musicians, acrobats and street theatre.

MAMA Director Jacqui Hemsley said MAMA was free to enter and would continue to be free - excluding some future blockbuster exhibitions, which would be kept as low-cost as possible.

"On opening day we want as many people as possible to come to MAMA and, to help us best manage the crowds that we're hoping for, we're asking people to book a time," she said.
