The Wandering by Andrew Pearce
When: 29 April to 26 June 2011
Where: Former Albury Art Gallery, 546 Dean Street Albury.
About the Exhibition
This exhibition of the work of Andrew Pearce showcased dark and dreamy photographic artworks where lone figures are absorbed in mystical landscapes.
The works are neither portraits nor landscapes but combine both to create something best described as a mood piece. Atmospheric elements such as fog, smoke and heavy cloud are exaggerated throughout the landscapes, abstracting the sense of realism. The photographs were taken in rural settings ranging from cane fields in Queensland to Andrew's family farm in the rolling hills of Victoria.
Andrew is a passionate photographer, filmmaker and designer who is strongly inspired by music, adventures and weather. Still in his early 20s, he has had both national and international success with his film and photographic work.
Pearce was awarded first prize in the 2009 Susan Moorhead Memorial Award. The Wandering was his resulting exhibition.
