Bill Henson: early works from the MGA Collection
When: 22 January to 7 March 2010
Where: Former Albury Art Gallery, 546 Dean Street Albury.
About the exhibition
This exhibition featured 29 exquisitely printed photographs from many of Bill Henson's major series from the 1970s through to the early 1990s, all drawn from the Monash Gallery of Art collection. It enabled viewers to experience Henson's work firsthand, unhindered by the distortions of reproduction.
Bill Henson is one of Australia's best-known contemporary photographers. His work has provoked intense discussion, especially in the media, about the nature of art. This exhibition provided a rare opportunity to experience the power, beauty and controversy of his early- to mid-career work.
