Workshop: Vegetable Synthesisers

When: Saturday 21 April, 10.00am - 1.00pm

Where: Workshop within Commonwealth Growth Centre, MAMA.

Price: $20, includes all materials

In this all ages, hands on workshop, artist Pia van Gelder will guide participants through the process of building their own bio-synthesisers using simple electronic circuits.

Once the synthesisers are built, the group will venture outdoors to test their devices on various plant life and to see how the instruments respond to natural phenomena.

No prior electronics knowledge is required!

Meet Pia van Gelder

Pia van Gelder is an electronic artist and researcher. Van Gelder’s work involves designing and building electronic instruments that are presented in performance and interactive installation contexts. Her works investigate our relationships with technology and energy.

Van Gelder has curated various festivals, art events and exhibitions and has been involved with DIY spaces for the past decade, particularly the Serial Space collective. She is the Overlord of Dorkbot Sydney, a regular meeting for people doing strange things with electricity, whilst lecturing at the College of Fine Arts, UNSW in the School of Media Art.
