An Illustrated History of Photography

MAMA Curator Michael Moran will present three one-hour talks, over three successive weeks, on one of his areas of expertise – the history of photography.
We will be moving from the first daguerreotype and its effect on painting through developments of the 20th Century, to the re-photographing of photography, Instagram and the Internet.

Meet the Presenter
Michael Moran is Curator, Murray Art Museum Albury (MAMA). He has fifteen years experience working within the cultural sector, both within Australia and internationally, striving to advance innovative and challenging contemporary visual arts practice.
Prior to MAMA, Moran held the senior management position of Exhibitions Manager at Sydney’s Sherman Contemporary Art Foundation (SCAF), in addition to prior roles at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney and White Cube, London. Between 2005 and 2007, Moran was a Director of the artist run initiative, Firstdraft Gallery, Sydney. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) from the College of Fine Arts, UNSW.
