Darkroom Workshop: Printing
When: Saturday 30 June, 9:00am - 12:00pm & 1:00pm - 4:00pm
Where: Workshop within the Commonwealth Growth Centre, MAMA
To celebrate our Season of Photography, we're bringing a series of four darkroom workshops to the MAMA Workshop. Led by professional photographers, the sessions will cover traditional photography processes and camera-less photography methods within a darkroom environment. Suitable for long-time photographers, first-timers, as well as those curious and interested in photo image-making. The four workshops include Photograms, Developing, Printing and Exposure Experiments.
Darkroom Workshop 3: Printing
This workshop with Tim Bauer covers the process of printing negatives using an enlarger. Each participant will create a contact sheet from their negatives and select up to five images which they will enlarge into 8’’ x 10’’ prints.
Students will discover various ways of editing images and test exposure levels to create different effects. Tim will demonstrate tinting techniques, such as the use of sepia toner, before students will have an opportunity to experiment with tinting test pieces before printing their final works.
We recommend attending the Developing workshop the week prior in order to process your roll of 35mm film.
A roll of developed 35mm film or selection of 35mm negatives from which you will create your prints.
Please contact us if you have any questions about the film requirements or materials for this workshop.
