Hone your composition skills in this one-day workshop with artist Frank Burgers.
No matter what sort of art you make, abstract or figurative, good composition skills will generate interest and vitality in your work.
Frank will challenge the way you see and think about your compositions. A complex display of curious objects will serve as a starting point to develop strategies in composition and ideas.
Students will be guided through a series of rapid, timed drawing exercises to explore a number of divergent thinking techniques designed to generate excitement in a composition.
You will then have the opportunity to embark on a major work or a series of works in your preferred media.
Whether you complete a painting on the day, or prefer to develop a number of drawings for major work at home, this one day workshop aims to inspire and ignite your creative journey.
This workshop is best suited for intermediate to advanced students and students who have foundational drawing skills.
Drawing and painting materials will be supplied, including paper, pastels, charcoal, pencils, and acrylic paints.

Meet the Tutor : Frank Burgers
Frank Burgers has a degree in Fine Art (Painting), an Associate Diploma in Art (Wood Design) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Education. Frank's art practice spans 30 years, and reflects an over-riding concern for the environment and the role of the artist in society.
Frank uses Formalist principles to re-think the nature of painting and its relevance in a Post-Modern world. This allows him to move between abstract and figurative modes of expression.
Frank is a member of North East Artisans and is a sought after tutor in painting, drawing, life drawing, and idea development.
