Drawing is an important skill for many branches of visual art and design. Gain confidence in this foundation skill in a relaxed 10 week studio course with Robyn White.

Robyn will help you open your mind to see like an artist, and convert what you see onto paper.

Learn the fundamental skills of line, edges, spaces, tone and colour. Practice scaling images on grids, completing negative drawings, understand perspective, use shading and texturing, and control and manage different edges.

Students will gain a solid grasp of the colour wheel, and experiment with colour and tone using graphite, charcoal, ink and pastels.

At the end of this 10 week course you will be able to draw any subject with confidence, and have the basic skills in place to continue experimenting and extending your skills at home.

Building on the foundation drawing course, Drawing Level One, this 10 week studio course will extend your skills and confidence.

Delve deeper into tonal values as you begin to work with colour as tones. Gain confidence in planning negative space, and learn to trust what you see, not what you think you see.

Robyn will lead new skills sessions including life drawing with a live model, learning to draw upright at the easel, and improving the composition of still life drawings.

New materials to explore include a full set of soft pastels, willow charcoal, and Indian ink.  Robyn will demonstrate how to mix media, and build layers into your composition to create a collage.

With these additional skills, you can move beyond simply having good bones in your drawing, to developing balanced compositions and a more gestural drawing style.

Meet the Tutor: Robyn White

Robyn White is a passionate visual artist and engaging arts tutor with over 20 years experience. Working across mediums in her own practice, Robyn loves to teach watercolour, drawing and pastels.

As a tutor, Robyn is warm and empathetic, having experienced many of the challenges and frustrations that her students faced in the development of her own skills and knowledge. Robyn embraced art 25 years ago, after taking a break from her career in finance to raise her family. Having always had aptitude and appetite for art, Robyn built on her earlier talents for drawing and after 20 plus years, now has her own studio & arts supply store in Wodonga.

Robyn encourages students to build strong technical foundations upon which they can loosen control and let the materials work their magic on the page.
