She Saw, Sea Shore
Francis Upritchard
Crab Pile, 2021 – 2022
Bronze

In Upritchard’s Wonder Cupboards, five cupboards each hold a concentrated world shaped by touch, circling the body and the sea. One centres on Mermaid Ears, a roughly modelled dark-bronze bust with silver mermaid earrings, while neighbouring cupboards gather a ceramic vase, handmade glass, bronze crabs, and lustred vessels into their own charged environments. Across these varied materials—bronze, shibuichi, glass, and ceramic—a loose, poetic narrative unfolds.
